Graffiti Max™ is a concentrate & must be reduced (thinned) using Speed Cure® accelerator/thinner/catalyst/adhesion promoters and "0-25 VOC" Proprietary ZR Thinners. ZR Thinner & Speed Cure® are available for safely thinning while maintaining VOC compliance with Graffiti Max™ formulas ranging from 100 to 250 g/l VOC available. NEVER, NEVER use without Speed Cure™.

Because of the incredible physical strength and scuff-resistant properties, Graffiti Max™ is also sold under the name of FlorMax™ as well. Testing run by a high-end tile manufacturer against a number of name brand industrial urethane floor coatings, showed Graffiti Max to the strongest, most scuff resistant, most stain resistant clear urethane floor coating product on the market. For many years, Graffiti Max has been successfully used on restaurant floors, garage floors, warehouse floors, kitchen floors & paint chip floors (garages & warehouses). Normally high gloss, "Graffiti Max™" can be made SATIN in the field. We recommend "Poly Grit" 50 for added slip resistance.

Normally, 2 coats are required over properly cleaned and primed surfaces to achieve a pin-hole free surface. However, some rough surfaces including chip floors may require a third coat (see FSC Coatings' Chip Floor Application Procedure).

COMMON SURFACES & USES: GRAFFITI CONTROL, FLOORS AND WEAR SURFACES: Restrooms, concrete/masonry products, concrete floors, decorative & structural steel, commercial & industrial, facilities, chip floors and wall construction. May be applied over most painted surfaces providing Graffiti Max does not lift or wrinkle existing finish.

SUITABILITY & ADHESION TESTING: Always test for suitability by applying small sample area before proceeding with full project. Graffiti Max™ film should be clear, full gloss and free of surface defects other than what the profile supplies.

Bare surfaces must be primed per FSC Coatings recommendation. Always do tape "pull test" to ensure proper adhesion of previous coatings to substrate, adhesion of Graffiti Max™ to underlying primers/coatings and to determine if application was outside the proper recoat windows requiring remedial steps.

SURFACE PREPARATION : See Graffiti Max Application Specifications for details on preparing surfaces before applying coatings to ensure adhesion and long life. For primer/sealer coat on unsealed masonry or wood, use appropriate primer such as Prime & Seal, 300 Series Stain or FSC epoxy depending upon the job. We do not recommend using Graffiti Max™ as its own primer - unless adeep, full "wet look" of an underlying masonry surface is desired - call FSC for specific instructions. When applying over aged and freshly applied enamels, epoxies or urethanes, be sure to scuff sand those surfaces first and wipe with Wax & Grease Remover (wipe on with one cloth in one direction and wipe off with a second cloth in a one direction) prior to Graffiti Max application. Test for adhesion as described in previous paragraph - remove if coating is non-adhering. Contact FSC Coatings for advice as to the proper preparation, time sequence and primer/pigmented coating selection for each project application.

Read "Graffiti Max™ Application Specification" and/or "Graffiti Max™ Chip Floor Procedure" for detailed instructions on preparing all surfaces and priming prior to applying Graffiti Max™ before starting or bidding project.

APPLICATION

1) Apply by brush, roll, HVLP or airless spray. HVLP spray has less overspray when compared to airless spray. Spray always produces best results. When spraying use fresh air respirator system to protect personnel. Flush area with fresh air during application for safety reasons and to increase cure rate. Spray is the only way to achieve a completely smooth floor - 50% overlap strokes with wide angle tips. For HVLP spray, 20-30% additional thinning with ZR Thinner will be required over the recommended blend described in 2).

Use premium woven rollers with phenolic cores and high-end brushes-always make sure to have wet edge; do not "dry roll" or heavy roller marks will remain. For floors, we recommend pouring Graffiti Max™ on the floor in ribbons & roll through puddle to keep a fully wet roller.

2) Material Blending: Graffiti Max™ must be thinned and catalyzed with Speed Cure® 1 or 2 Thinner/Accelerator/Adhesion Promoter and possibly ZR Thinner (optional). Normally add 1 pint (16 oz) Speed Cure per gallon. For certain situations, additional ZR Thinner can be added (up to 1 qt) but will reduce its ability to "smooth" a surface (diluted coating has lower solids and reduced viscosity); hence more coats will be required. Use low speed drill motor to blend material with Speed Cure for 1 minute - do not overmix or use high speed mixer to minimize bubble entrainment. Do not use stick type mixing. Do not use common paint store/retail center thinners --failure will occur due to contamination or inferior solvent strength.

3) Choosing Between Speed Cure®1 or 2 - Speed Cure® 1 is recommended for most applications. It is a strategic blend of catalyst (accelerator), wetting agents, adhesion promoters and very strong "0" VOC solvent which has a tremendous effect on improving all aspects of the curing, wetting and adhesion process in applying Graffiti Max™. Formulated for maximum cure rate with increased catalyst loadings and other Speed Cure 1 components, Speed Cure 2® should only be used in the last topcoat. To recoat Graffiti Max with Speed Cure® 2 added, sand aggressively with 60-80 grit paper using rotary floor scrubber unit to achieve proper tooth and wipe with Wax & Grease Remover before applying an additional coat. DO NOT APPLY Graffiti Max WITHOUT SPEED CURE® ADDED.

If fish eyeing occurs when applying 2nd or 3rd coat of Graffiti Max™, add extra ZR Thinner. Stop application and re-clean surface with FSC Wax & Grease Remover. Sanding may be required. Call FSC Coatings for additional guidance.

4) Applicator Safety: Flush area with fresh air to remove solvent from area, reduce odor and increase cure rate. In confined spaces, use explosion proof equipment. Turn off pilot lights or other spark sources - especially important around furnaces and hot water heaters. Open doors where possible to improve ventilation. IMPORTANT NOTE: It is absolutely essential to follow all safety precautions outlined in the MSDS and Graffiti Max Application Specifications. Under no circumstances should this material be sprayed without all of the required protective equipment including goggles & respirator. Use fans to flush move fresh air into the area being coated.

5) Floor Uses - Non-Slip Additives: We recommend adding PolyGrit™ 50 grit to each coat for improved traction. A special cleaner can be used that also dramatically improves traction (call FSC Coatings for details).

SPREAD RATE

Apply 2 coats @ 400-550 sq ft/gal (with Speed Cure® Added) over previously painted or non-porous surfaces in most cases. Textured surfaces will consume more product. Porous surfaces where full "wet look" is desired - apply one thinned coat to seal surface (30-50% dilution) and second at above recommended dilution (range from 100-300 sq ft/gal). For maximum graffiti resistance the surface should have full gloss appearance. Talk to FSC rep about surface wall sealing options…very important.

CLEANUP: Use ZR Thinner or MEK for equipment. Throw away brushes & roller covers. Avoid skin contact with Graffiti Max™ as moisture accelerates the cure making removal very difficult.

DRY TIME, PREP& THINNING BLENDS FOR ADDITIONAL COATS

Part of cure mechanism is activated by atmospheric moisture. Typical application with Speed Cure® 1 added exhibits hard dry in 3-4 hrs at 75 degrees F & 50% R.H... Allow at least 4 hrs dry between coats but not longer than 16 hrs between coats. If 16 hours or longer between coats, scuff sand with 80 grit on floors; 150 grit on sidewall-type applications followed by Wax & Grease Remover wipe before recoat. Always sand if recoating when Speed Cure® 2 has been added in the underlying coat. If surface is in areas with significant airborne contamination as in Southern California, always wipe entire surface with Wax & Grease Remover immediately before recoating to minimize "fish eyes" or edge creep.

As described in the Application steps 2 & 3 above, add Speed Cure® 1 or 2 to Graffiti Max™ for additional coats. Additional ZR Thinner can be added as an option to the topcoat if not concerned about mil film build or "smoothness" - up to 1 qt per gallon GM. For filling chip floors, apply second coat at full strength with only Speed Cure® 1 or 2 added.

GRAFFITI REMOVAL PROCEDURES

All testing has been conducted with ZR Thinner, FSC Automotive Thinners and TakeOff™ Stripper. ZR Thinner or FSC Automotive Thinners will remove many types of graffiti - apply with spray bottle and wipe. For textured surfaces, follow with power washer to remove diluted paint & residue solvent. Most ballpoint inks will be removed with TakeOff Stripper - dab on with white cloth, remove ink and then wipe dry with clean cloth to remove haze. If shadowing still remains, apply a second application of TakeOff Stripper and let sit 5-10 min. Rub area with cloth to remove remaining material. Power wash to remove Stripper/ink/paint residue from textured surfaces. Always test a small area before undertaking removal from entire surface.

PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS

Appearance: Graffiti Max™ provides a hard, smooth, glass-like finish to which little will adhere. Gloss and color retention of color coat is unequalled; but, unlike other high gloss finishes, Graffiti Max ™ has excellent resistance to alkaline and acid materials alike. Washabiity ranks high, whether a simple rain shower, hosing or with washers using acid or alkaline cleaners.

Durability: Graffiti Max combines chemical, abrasion, and corrosion resistance to provide a tough and yet flexible coating, which will outlast other types of paints by factors of 3:1 to 10:1, depending upon application.

Chemical Resistant : To acid acids formed from sulfuric and nitrous oxides, alkalis and washing solutions. It is impervious to salt conditions of coastal regions.

Corrosion Resistant: Adhesion properties of Graffiti Max to the substrate or coating underneath prevent rust creepage under a surface that is cracked, chipped or scored.

Abrasion Resistance: Excellent (only 7 mg loss for 1000 Taber rubs)

Tough and Flexible : The hardness is combined with film resilience to provide excellent impact and chip resistance.

Big "Life Cycle" Cost Savings : Substantial cost savings is realized over the life of the equipment and surfaces to be protected through longer refinish cycles. The slightly higher initial cost of Graffiti Max cost is insignificant when compared with the cost of incurring frequent repaint cycles with conventional coatings.

Graffiti Resistance: Excellent mar and slip properties are permanently incorporated by the use of a reactive silicone that will not wear off or allow adhesion of most commonly used graffiti-type paints.
